The Federal Government has deployed additional security personnel to Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State and other affected LGAs, following a recent spike in bandit attacks across the area.
The deployment is part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and protect residents who have been affected by criminal activities in the region.
Confirming the development, prominent Funtua community leader, Alhaji Lawal Abbas, said he has taken responsibility for supporting the newly deployed security operatives in all aspects to boost their morale.
Speaking in Funtua on Monday, Abbas said the intervention came at a critical time when residents are seeking lasting solutions to insecurity.
“The Federal Government has responded by sending more security personnel to Funtua and other Local Government Areas. We must support them with everything within our capacity so that they can carry out their duties effectively,” Abbas stated.
He called on the people of Funtua LGA to offer prayers for the success of the security agencies and to cooperate fully with them in the fight against bandits and other criminal elements.
“We are calling on all the people of Funtua to continue praying for our security personnel. With prayers and cooperation, we believe they will succeed in flushing out bandits and those committing crimes against the people of Funtua, Katsina State, and Nigeria as a whole,” he added.
Abbas also pledged to continue mobilizing resources and community support to assist the security forces until full peace is achieved in the LGA.
Residents of Funtua town have commended Alhaji Lawal Abbas for his contribution to security affairs in the area.
Community members described his support for the security personnel as timely and necessary, noting that partnership between government, community leaders, and citizens is key to ending banditry.
“His commitment shows that securing Funtua is a collective responsibility. We appreciate what he is doing for the security of our people,” one resident said.
Funtua LGA, one of the major commercial hubs in Katsina State, has in recent weeks experienced an increase in bandit attacks, raising concerns among traders, farmers, and families in the area.
The deployment of more personnel is expected to strengthen patrols, surveillance, and rapid response in Funtua and neighboring communities that have also been targeted.
Local leaders say they remain hopeful that the combined efforts of the Federal Government, security forces, and community support will bring lasting peace to Funtua and restore normal economic activities.
