Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has called on the members of Tinubu Again Movement to intensify grassroots mobilisation across Nigeria, declaring that the group is committed to securing 20 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Matawalle made the call while addressing members and coordinators of the movement during an engagement ahead of President Tinubu’s campaign activities in Kaduna, where political leaders and supporters from the six geopolitical zones of the country gathered to demonstrate their support for the President’s re-election bid.
He urged members of the movement to take the campaign to communities, streets and households, stressing that effective political mobilisation must be driven by direct engagement with citizens and a clear explanation of government policies and achievements.
The minister said the movement would focus on reaching ordinary Nigerians rather than engaging in political grandstanding, urging its members to demonstrate their commitment through concrete actions.
He also expressed confidence that the movement’s grassroots strategy would strengthen support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
In his address, the Director-General of the Tinubu Again Movement, Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu, said the organisation was established to promote the President’s policies and programmes while mobilising support from the grassroots.
Aliyu described Matawalle as a leader committed to empowering ordinary Nigerians and creating opportunities for people who might otherwise be excluded from leadership and public service.
He said Matawalle deliberately prioritised grassroots mobilisation in the movement’s leadership structure, explaining that the initiative was designed to encourage house-to-house campaigns, community engagement and direct communication with voters.
The DG called on members to work towards delivering the movement’s 20-million-vote target, arguing that sustained public education on government policies would be essential to achieving the objective.
Aliyu also defended the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, saying the resulting increase in allocations to state governments had created opportunities for more investments in infrastructure and public services.
He highlighted several federal government interventions in social welfare, education, healthcare and security, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), healthcare support programmes and efforts to strengthen the country’s security architecture.
According to him, the challenge is to ensure that Nigerians are adequately informed about the policies and programmes introduced by the administration and how they are intended to improve living conditions.
He urged governors, ministers, lawmakers and local government officials to complement the movement’s efforts by explaining government initiatives to their constituents and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries have access to relevant programmes.
Aliyu further praised Matawalle for his reported empowerment initiatives, which he said included vehicles, motorcycles, point-of-sale machines, food support and equipment for small businesses and vocational activities.
He maintained that such interventions reflected Matawalle’s longstanding commitment to supporting vulnerable people and expanding economic opportunities.
The movement’s Director-General, however, acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, insisting that government interventions and public engagement should be strengthened to address citizens’ concerns.
In his remarks, Matawalle urged supporters to remain united and committed to the movement’s objectives, expressing optimism that sustained mobilisation would help secure victory for Tinubu in 2027.
The gathering also featured goodwill messages from coordinators representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, who pledged to strengthen mobilisation efforts in their respective regions and expand the movement’s reach across communities.
The coordinators emphasised the importance of unity, grassroots participation and coordinated political engagement in building support for the President ahead of the next general election.
The meeting ended with renewed calls for members to take the Tinubu Again Movement’s campaign to every part of the country, with speakers expressing confidence that a coordinated grassroots strategy would play a significant role in the 2027 electoral contest
