The new Vice Chancellor Federal University Gusau, Professor Tukur Adamu, has in his maiden speech during the handing over pledged taking the University to greater hight and ensure provision of adequate security of lives of the students ,lecturers, and university community also provide conducive environment for teaching and learning as priority .
Professor Tukur Adamu who took over mantle leadership of FUGUS in a colourful ceremony further pledged consolidate the ongoing projects inherited from his predecessor , also commended the developmental projects been executed by the outgoing administration of Professor Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau that foster patriotism in building the life of future generations in the University.
Professor Adamu commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor has done a lot in simplifying the duty for the incoming administration, adding that, “I am taking over a fenced institution, number of constructed monitoring towers that command the view of every angle of the institution for security, as well as trenches that surrounded it, the tempo shall be sustained under my administration”.
“Let me use this opportunity to further commend the outgoing Vice Chancellor who had visibly uplifted the integrity of the University by securing conducive environments for both teaching and learning, and making the institution a hard-to-go area for bandits who before now embarked on disruptive activities that hinder effective learning of education.
“The outgoing Vice Chancellor must be commended as he formed a formidable collaboration with security agencies who brought comfort that facilitated the smooth running of the affairs of the institution, there would have been no education without provision of well secured environment”, Prof. Adamu has said
Earlier, in his farewell address the outgoing vice chancellor Professor Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau, said he met the University half bush and was financially bankrupt to the extent the University management had to borrow to run the affairs of the institution, adding that, “Soon I joined as substantive Vice Chancellor five years ago, the borrowing stopped as we initiated several ways of generating funds.
“Today, I am stepping out leaving the University in an excellent position, and I am confident, that I handed over to someone I knew because we studied at Science Secondary School Gusau in 1970th as my senior student.
“I am glad that, developmental projects which encompassed lecture theatres, state of the art library for researches as well as other teaching/learning-related facilities glittered across the campus of the University being part of duty to encourage learning for better society in the future”, Prof. Gusau has disclosed.
