The Nigeria Union of Journalists zamfara state council has presented ramadan Palliatives to the families of deceased members of the union
The presentation was done at the press center Gusau.
Speaking during the event,the chairman of the union comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare said his leadership decided to provide little assistance to the families of deceased members so that their contribution to the journalism profession cannot be forgotten.
He said the deceased members has individual and collectively contributed enormously to the development of the profession as some of them are either chairmen of the council or executive of various responsibilities.
Comrade Ibrahim Maizare said the council would design policy that would cater for the families of the deceased particularly in areas of health related issues, education and skill acquisition development .
He further said, council would engaged all relevant stake holders to create a trust fund for the sustenance of the this laudable program.
He thank the wife of the state governor Hajia Hurraiya Dauda for providing additional packages to the families of the deceased members
Also speaking former chairman of the union and also chairman ethics and disciplinary committee charged the beneficiaries to make sure the Palliatives are properly utilize.
In his remarks, the zonal secretary comrade Abdulrazaq Bello Kaura who represented National president of the union Alhassan Yahaya emphasize the willingness of the National Secretariat to assist any council that consider the welfare of their members as a priority particularly the deceased family members.
He called for the training of the family members in skills acquisition ,
Other speakers during the event includes General Manager Zamfara radio comrade Babangida Umar Zurmi,Gm Gamji media and others all spoke in favor of sustaining the program.
Thirteen family members were given twenty five thousand naira each and other packages from Her excellency the wife of the state governor Hajia Hurraiya Dauda
