Zamfara State Local Government Service Commission in collaboration with Leadership and Professional Ethics Consult has conducted a three-day training workshop for 42 Directors of Finance and the Directors of Administration of the Fourteen Local Government Areas on leadership and teamwork for effective service delivery in the state
A press release issued by the public relations officer of the commission, Jamilu Isa Gusau indicated that
the training workshop, themed, “leadership and teamwork for effective service delivery in Zamfara State Local Governments”aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of strategic leadership. Teamwork is strong within the Local Government Service, and citizens benefit directly through improved welfare, peace, development, and public confidence in government, the workshop emphasised.
Declaring the workshop open at the Zamfara State Local Government service commission multipurpose Hall in Gusau, the State Capital, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Engr Ahmed Garba Yandi, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Alh. Yakubu Sanusi, explained that leadership is the ability to influence, direct, motivate, and coordinate people towards the achievement of common goals. In public service administration, leadership goes beyond occupying positions of
authority. It involves responsibility, accountability, integrity, vision, and service to the people.
Speaking earlier, the executive chairman of LGSC Alh. Aminu Aliyu Mafara who was represented by the Permanent Commissioner 1 Hon. Bello Tudu Gummi said that leadership and teamwork remain the bedrock of every successful institution rapidly changing governance
environment, local governments are expected to provide
quality services efficiently, transparently, and responsibly
to the people at the grassroots. Achieving these noble goals requires not only capable leadership but also strong collaboration, mutual respect, discipline,
accountability, and professionalism among workers and management teams.
He therefore noted that the workshop was timely and highly relevant. He stressed that It provided a valuable opportunity for participants to
exchange ideas, strengthen administrative capacity,
improve ethical standards, and deepen the spirit of cooperation necessary for effective service delivery across the 14 local governments in Zamfara State.
Mafara also said that the commission believed that the knowledge and experience to be shared during the workshop will equip participants
with practical leadership skills, enhance teamwork spirit and
ultimately improve productivity and public confidence in the 14 local government areas of the state.
In their separate remarks at the occasion, the Zamfara State Head of Service,Alh. Yakubu Sani Haidara, mni, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Civil Service Commission Shehu Baraya, the Auditor General for Local Government Alh. Aminu Mammaga said that leadership and teamwork are indispensable pillars of effective Local
Government Administration. They maintained that Without visionary leadership and
collective effort, meaningful service delivery cannot be achieved, adding that as public servants and stakeholders in Zamfara State, they must work together to build Local Governments that are transparent, efficient, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the people.
In a vote of thanks, the Secretary of the Commission Brr. Shafi’u Bukhari applauded the ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for releasing the monthly training funds of the Commission
