The Zamfara state government has suspended operational licenses of all the private schools in the state with a view to reposition them to meet the challenges of the rescue mission of the state government.
This was announced by the commissioner of education, Malam Wadatau Madawaki while speaking to journalists in his office in Gusau.
He said the decision to suspend the licenses of the private schools became imperative because out of the 761private schools identified in the state, only 450 have licenses which were either expired, were operating beyond the capacity of their licenses or were operating in unfriendly environment.
He further said over 300 schools are operating without licenses which is not healthy for learning. Wadatau said government has mapped out strategy on how to regulate the activities of private schools to provide quality education.
He said government has made adequate arrangements to revamp and revitalize education sector in the state with a view to reposition the entire system for maximum out put through various intervention methods.
He said the teachers would be adequately consider for training and retraining in addition to timely promotion and payments of all allowance and salaries due to boast their moral.
