Hon. Sha’ayau Sarkinfawa, Talata Mafara, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara, says Gov. Dauda Lawal’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC is a homecoming.
Sarkinfawa, who is the Coordinator, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari’s Constituency office, (Zamfara West Senatorial District) stated this while speaking with journalists in Gusau on Monday.
The National Secretariat of the APC has scheduled Tuesday, March 24, to officially receive Gov. Lawal into the party.
The governor’s reception into the party will be performed by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and the National leadership of the APC, assisted by all the former governors of the state.
Sarkinfawa described Lawal’s decision to join the ruling party as historic and a welcome development.
“I think Gov Lawal’s defection will bring more collaboration between Zamfara and the Federal government towards bringing more development to the state.
“Governor Lawal’s defection to the Progressive party is a homecoming considering the history of his political carrier.,” he noted.
Sarkinfawa noted that the goverrnor’s defection would bring more unity , peace and stability and general development to the state.
He added that the governor’s defection is a blessing not only to the political development in the state but to the entire people of the state.
“I believe Gov Lawal’s defection would address various challenges of disunity and instability in the party,” he added.
He described the governor’s decision to join the APC as a great achievement that would ensure the victory of the party in the 2027 general elections.
“You know, our great leader, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari and other relevant stakeholders in the party have invested massively in the party.
“In addition to the Governor’s decision, the party became more powerful, strong and only political party in the state.
“The APC is now a big family in Zamfara; we have to ensure that we work with all relevant stakeholders for the success of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Senator Yari has already built a strong political structure in the ruling party across the state and lucky we have another development to have the governor joining the party”, he explained.
Sarkinfawa called on APC leaders in the state, LGAs and ward levels to ensure unity and work for the progress of the party in order to avoid anti party activities in the 2027 general elections.
He said that the APC structure in the state is not like that of PDP, adding that the APC was built strongly at grassroots level.
He assured of his continued support for the Governor Dauda Lawal and his administration to promote Zamfara state.
He called on the people of the state to continue to support the governor towards addressing security challenges bedeviling the state.
