Zamfara State government has demonstrated its commitment to the well-being of its citizens by settling the medical bills of victims of the recent Mafara gunpowder explosion.
The victims are currently receiving treatment at the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.
Dr. Nafisa Muhammed Maradun, the state’s Commissioner for Health, has been in Sokoto since Friday, overseeing the care of the patients.
She announced that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal, has paid N20 million to UDUTH. Of that amount, N15 million covers outstanding debts, while the remaining N5 million has been deposited to ensure the continued medical care of the patients.
“Governor Lawal’s heart is with these patients,” Dr. Maradun stated.
“He has been in constant contact with me, requesting hourly updates on their condition. This demonstrates his deep concern and commitment to their recovery.”
The Commissioner emphasized the Governor’s dedication to the victims and assured the people of Zamfara State that the government will spare no effort, financial or otherwise, to ensure their swift recovery.
“We understand the pain and hardship these families are facing,” Dr. Maradun said.
“Governor Lawal has made it clear that we will provide every necessary resource to support them through this difficult time.
We urge the relatives of the patients and all residents of Zamfara to trust in Governor Lawal’s leadership and his unwavering commitment to the health and welfare of our people.”
