The United Nations Women, a Non-Governmental Organization with the aim of ensuring women’s Activitive political participation in Nigeria, has commenced activities to enhance women’s sensitization to properly educate them on the need to be involved in Politics and be elected into elective positions in the country.
Addressing women in Kaduna, the National Project Officer, women political empowerment, Chundung Ashkey Dauda explained that time has come when women would not only be observers but should actively be involved in the political process to be voted into various elective positions in Nigeria.
She explained that there was the need to enhance coordination by facilitating women’s participation in politics especially in elective positions, stressing that there should be proper orientation and sensitization for women to enable them Activitively be involved.
According to her, there was also the need to strengthen their financial capability to enhance women’s participation in the game of politics in Nigeria, stressing that with sufficient funds, women will develop more interest in politics than before.
According to her, time has come for women to showcase their leadership potentials in contributing to the development of the country through active participation in the political process of electing credible people that will lead the affairs of the to its promised land.
Some other discussants at the meeting stressed the need to approach Kaduna state government with a proposal on ways to encourage women participation in politics through special financial assistance.

Another issue of great concern that hindered women’s participation related to culture and religion, saying that it has really stood against the desire of some women especially from the core to declare their interests in active politics.
With continuous interactions of women from different s a feelections, religions and ethnic groups, it is believed that a workable solution could be achieved in no distance time.
