Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Alh. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar Marafan Sokoto has paid over 1.3 billion naira as fertilizer subsidy to farmers across the State under this year’s wet farming season.
Disclosing this on Monday, 30/06/2025 after inspection of the commodity at ASAD Fertilizer Company, an indigenous fertilizer blending factory in Bungudu, Zamfara State, Chairman of the distribution committee, Hon. Dr. Lawal M. Liman (Gabdon Kaura) said that the 81 ordered Trucks have been stocked by the Company.
According to him, beneficiaries of the subsidy are largely small-scale holding farmers, adding that the aim of the subsidy is to assist them to earn more yields at the end of the season farming with a viewing to increasing their income.
Dr. Lawal M Liman who is also the Chairman, Governing Board of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika Zaria, Kaduna State said under the arrangement a beneficiary is to pay the sum of 20, 000 naira to a bag of the commodity instead of its market price of 45,000 to 50,000 naira .
He further explained that the commodity will be delivered to local government headquarters free of charge in order to make it easily accessible.
The distribution which will commence within the shortest possible time he stressed will not be on party or political line.
