The former Zamfara state Governor, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar now a senator representing Zamfara west senatorial district has flagged off distribution of 358 trucks load of assorted grains to 250,000 families in Zamfara.
Speaking during the event at Galadima ward in Talata Mafara local government ,he said each local government is to receive 25 trucks while Gusau local government is to receive 33 trucks.
Senator Abdulaziz who was represented at the occasion by senator Tijjani Yahaya kaura said in each of the 14 local government and the 147 political wards, 17,000 families are to benefit from the Ramadan welfare package .He said the gesture has no political undertones as every citizen irrespective of political party affiliation will benefit .
He further said adequate arrangements have been made to ensure that the package get to the intended beneficiaries across the .state. He said for the last 5 years, Abdulaziz Yari has been distributing Ramadan package to the less privileged in the society .
He warned committee members saddled with the responsibility of distributing the commodities that anybody caught diverting or short changing any beneficiary would not be spared.
In his remarks, the chairman Zamfara west distribution committee, Hon.Muttaka Rini thanked senator Yari for the gesture and pledge to ensure that they carry their assignment with out fear or favour.
He said the items to be distributed includes ,rice, millet, maize g/corn
