Crises have erupted in IPAC election in zamfara following the suspension of the election as warring parties failed to agree on modalities of election of new leaders of the forum .
In a press release sign by YPP chairman Ambassador Adamu Yusuf Tsafe said the election could not hold as a result of misguided behavior of certain individuals belonging to one political party (APM) who ganged themselves against majority of political parties in the state that formed the umbrella of Inter-Party Advisory Council.
The press release further said Concerned members who constitute over 2/3 of the Council resolved to resist any move to install APM chairman on them as Caretaker Committee Chairman. The State Inter-Party Advisory Council therefore advised that for peace to reign, while forming the Caretaker Committee, majority’s interest must be respected.
He said this is the 2nd time the current National Chairman of IPAC had similar failed mission in Zamfara State where he was to conduct/oversee an election and in trying to install candidates, there was disagreement which enabled him
to dissolved the Council and constituted a caretaker committee. Zamfara State is therefore witnessing his undemocratic attitude for the 2nd time.
These individuals, having National Chairman at the top, decided to come to Zamfara State to superintend an election that would have been concluded peacefully, but for their selfish interest, rendered the election impossible, thereby cancelled.
The National Chairman of the APM, who doubles as the National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, organized his members that is the APM National Officer acting as Zamfara State Electoral Committee Secretary and the Sokoto State Chairman of APM to come to Zamfara, ambush and install their candidate who is the APM Zamfara State Chairman.
On realizing failure, they organized thugs who entered the venue and disrupted the election. We believe their action is intentional so as to create room for the installation of their candidate as caretaker chairmen, the statement concluded.
