The former president federal republic of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida described the philosophy of the Late General Hassan Usamana Katsina, as an impetus to galvanize the current leaders for action, to reverse the challenges that is militating against the overall socio-economic development of Northern Nigeria.
President Babangida made the statement during the Late Hassan Usman Katsina second memorial conference, organised by New Vision Development Initiative (NEVDI), held at state house Kawo in Kaduna.
The former Nigerian military President, represented by the former Niger state military administrator, Colonel Lawal M Gwadabe, however descibed Late General Hassan Usman Katsina as an embodiment of great humility, he was second to none in his humble and endearing carriage in his private life. In the service of Nigeria,
General Hassan was just, humane, temperate and very sincere. As our Chief of Army Staff he was dignified, and commanding. His example was an edifying testament to all of us whom he mentored. The effects of that mentorship is the lasting example that is still with us today. We cherish and remember him always.
“General Hassan was condescending to his equals, and very kind to his inferiors and very affectionate to the generality of Nigerians.’
“his life was humble, correct and with an undisturbed serenity. This is the man that Nigeria has lost 30 years ago, such is the man that we are commemorating today. May the Almighty Allah continue to rest his soul in Aljannah Firdausi.”
