Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to provide scholarship to persons with disabilities and those with special needs, to achieve their academic goals.
A press release issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abubakar Mu”azu Dakingari indicated that the Governor was speaking through the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Alhaji Aliyu Mustapha Gwandu “Sarkin Yan Sarki Gwandu”, when he received members of APC Awareness for People with Disabilities Organization, Kebbi state led by the State Coordinator Anas Malami Gwandu in company of Abubakar Abdullahi, Atiku Muhammad and other members to thank the governor for providing them with scholarship.
This has enabled them graduate from various high institutions of learning, with degrees, HND, OND, NCE and other certificates.
The team leader, Anas Malami Gwandu who obtained BSc. in Computer Science from Federal University, Birnin Kebbi said their members were studying in several institutions thanking the governor for his frequent visits to schools for the handicapped to keep abreast with the situation on ground.
He acknowledged the provision of tricycles to students, kneepad, eye visual aid, walking sticks, healthcare service, rehabilitation of dormitories, classroom as well as supply, teaching and learning materials.
The coordinator appealed to the state Government for Employment of their members, patronizing their handcraft and commercial ventures to improve their socio economic wellbeing.
In response, the governor advised them to enroll their children into schools while at the same time sustain their academic pursuit.
He solicited for support for the APC in the forthcoming elections to triumph at the polls.
