The Democratic Oxford Network (DON) has conferred prestigious Awards of Excellence on the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, and the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Lawal Barau, in recognition of their visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to good governance, and impactful service delivery across the state.
Hon. Lawal Barau, who serves as the State Grand Patron of the Network in Zamfara State, was specifically acknowledged for his continuous support and strategic role in promoting the objectives of the organization within the state.
The honour was bestowed during a Ramadan humanitarian outreach organized by the Network, where 250 beneficiaries received Ramadan support packages, including a cash donation of ten thousand naira each. The initiative underscores the administration’s people-centered philosophy and its deliberate efforts to cushion the economic realities faced by citizens, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan.
Governor Dauda Lawal was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mani Mallam Mummuni, who conveyed the Governor’s appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to continue prioritizing infrastructure development, social welfare, and inclusive governance.
Presenting the awards, representatives of the Network commended Governor Dauda Lawal for redefining governance in Zamfara State through transparency, accountability, and bold infrastructural reforms that are repositioning the state for sustainable growth. They further described the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure as a strategic driver of the administration’s infrastructure revolution, whose leadership has significantly accelerated project delivery across the state.
In his remarks, Hon. Lawal Barau expressed profound appreciation for the recognition, stating that the award reflects the collective commitment of the present administration to delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Zamfara State.
The event was attended by the Honourable Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Bala Mairiga, and the Honourable Commissioner for Justice, Abdulaziz Sani (SAN), alongside other dignitaries.
The event reinforced growing public confidence in the administration and highlighted the strong partnership between government and civil society in advancing community development, humanitarian support, and sustainable progress.
