The Kebbi state Beach Soccer team has woefully emerged champions of the 2026 Nigeria Beach Soccer League Super 4 after dominating the match with Five goals to Two, defeating Kaduna state beach Soccer team in an final encounter.
Kebbi Fishers number 9 jersey, Hamza Isah Manga, trashed four consecutive goals in the final encounter which led his side’s five goals to seal a convincing victory.
The final match which held at Beach soccer stadium Murtala Mohammed Square recently in Kaduna.
Speaking after presentation of awards to winners of the competition, President of the African Beach Soccer Union, Mohammed Hadejia, described the Super 4 as a success.
He also said the facilities provided for the tournament were good and praised the participating teams for their performances throughout the competition.
According to him, the successful conclusion of the Super 4 has also provided a strong foundation for Nigeria’s preparations for the forthcoming CAF Beach Soccer qualifiers against Ghana.
“Nigeria are scheduled to face Ghana on October 10 at the Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna, with the encounter serving as an important step in the country’s quest to qualify for the continental competition.”
Hadejia expressed confidence in Kaduna’s readiness to host the qualifier, and commended the Kaduna state government for their tremendous support in hosting the tournament, also highlighting the progress being made in women’s beach soccer.
He however described the emergence and development of the female beach soccer team as a success and expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon have a female Beach Eagles team capable of competing at the international level.
Also speaking, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the teams despite Kebbi Fishers eventually lifting the trophy.
Nimrod encouraged the players and officials to immediately begin preparations for the October qualifier against Ghana, stressing the importance of maintaining the momentum gained from the Super 4.
He also thanked the supporters, organisers, match officials and dignitaries who attended the event and contributed to the successful conclusion of the tournament.
Kada BSC, despite putting up a strong fight in front of their home supporters, could only manage two goals as Kebbi Fishers maintained their composure to secure the title.
The victory capped an exciting Super 4 tournament which brought together some of the country’s leading beach soccer teams and provided a platform for players to showcase their talents ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international assignment.
In the third-place playoff played earlier, Niger Beach Soccer Club defeated Ibom Beach Soccer Club 5-2 to finish third, while Ibom BSC settled for fourth position.
The Super 4 programme also featured a novelty friendly between the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and Nigeria Beach Soccer League old stars, the old stars proved too strong for the journalists, winning the encounter 4-
During the awards presentation, the Kada BSC forward Dozie Frank emerged as the highest goal scorer finding 17 goals during the tournament, while Kada BSC’s Victor Tale was named Most Valuable Player, while Niger BSC received the Fair Play award in recognition of their conduct during the tournament.
Kebbi Fishers goalkeeper Nuhu Aiki was rewarded for his outstanding performances with the Best Goalkeeper award, while Ibom BSC’s Gedion John was named the tournament’s Rising Star.
