The independent and Major marketers of petroleum products a have reiterated their resolve to commence the use of Point Of Sale (POS) Machines in all filling stations in Zamfara State as a result of the scarcity of Naira in the country.
This was stated by the leadership of the two oil groups in a chat with the state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Zamfara State Command, Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu in the state headquarters Gusau.
According to a press release issued by the command’s public relations officer, SC Ikor Oche, the meeting was attended by Alh. Nasir Lawal, the Administrative officer of NARTO, Bala Haliru Secretary PTD/NUPENG, Hamza Saleh NMDPRA at the instance of the Corps State Commandant, Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu whose motive was to fathom possible ways to avert any form of civil unrest that may be occasioned by the Naira crunch and fuel scarcity in Zamfara State.
The two major marketers had accordingly agreed that in order to cushion the hardship occasioned by the Naira scarcity and to ameliorate the suffering of the good people of Zamfara State, the POS machines will be stationed in all filling stations where customers could access in the advent of no cash at hand for the purchase of premium Motor Spirit in the state.
The oil dealers promised to always make the product available to all and sundry in these crucial periods.
In a similar manner, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alh. Hamisu Kasuadaji opined that, the Union was committed to ensure peace in Zamfara. He said that NURTW will synergize with the Corps and other sister agencies to ensure that peace in Zamfara State is sustained.
In view of this, Alh. Hamisu assured the general public of the resolve of the Union to commence the usage of Point Of Sale (POS) in motor parks for the purpose of payment of transportation fares by prospective commuters.
Meanwhile, Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu who is the convener of this Maiden chat with stakeholders in the oil industry and transportation, commended the resilient efforts of these stakeholders in ensuring that peace is highly sustained in the state.
Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu however harps on the need to continuously embark on confidence building by the stakeholders to the public in order to botch any purported civil unrest by any group in the state.
Commandant MB Muazu appealed to the stakeholders to as a matter of urgency, do all it could within their purview to ameliorate the sufferings of the good people of Zamfara State.
He however advised that, all filling stations should in a week time station and install the POS machines on their vicinity for smooth transactions.
Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu recalled that, in the last chat with the youths of the State, the youths had assured the general public of a rancor free general elections and to curb any form of agitation or protest as a result of paucity of Naira and Premium Motor Spirit in the state.
He therefore charged the major and independent marketers to also do their best to fulfill the promises.
