The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, CON, has said the party was not established to promote religious, ethnic, linguistic or cultural divisions, but to guarantee equal opportunities for Nigerians to practise their faith and preserve their cultural identities without discrimination.
Nakudu made the assertion on Sunday, September 20, 2026, when he received a delegation of Christian groups within the ADC in Jigawa State, who paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Dutse.
He said the prevailing economic hardship confronting Nigerians made it particularly disturbing that, in his view, some political actors were exploiting religious, linguistic and cultural differences to deepen social divisions for political ends.
According to him, the country requires leadership committed to national cohesion, justice and equal opportunity, rather than the exploitation of diversity as an instrument of political mobilisation.
Nakudu further stated that, if the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, wins the 2027 presidential election, the party would pursue policies aimed at economic recovery, social inclusion, justice and equality, irrespective of religious or linguistic differences.
He assured Christians in Jigawa State that an ADC administration would provide them with meaningful opportunities to participate in the governance of the state if the party secures victory in the 2027 governorship election.
He urged the delegation and other party supporters to remain steadfast in their support for the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, its leader, Rev. Musa Alasan Taura, said the visit was to reaffirm their allegiance to the ADC and express their support for Atiku Abubakar, Nakudu and other party candidates contesting various elective positions in 2027.
Taura said the groups were committed to mobilising support for the ADC candidates and working towards their electoral success in the 2027 elections.
Other groups that also paid separate solidarity visits included Birnin Kudu ADC New Movement 2027; a group of ADC commercial drivers displaying the party’s flags and banners on their vehicles; the Atiku-Nakudu-Baraya-Bala-Dalhatu Movement from Jigawa Central Senatorial District; and the Danmodi Greenlight Association of Kiyawa Local Government Area, which has adopted the name Nakudu Greenlight Association.
