The Zamfara State Government, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has successfully revived the Students Exchange Programme, a unique program previously halted due to lack of commitment by past administrations.
Addressing students and their guardians at the J.B. Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau before their departure, the Director of the Students Exchange Programme, Halima Na’ala Ibrahim expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal for his support in reintroducing the programme.
She also commended the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki and the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Ahmad Garba Yandi, for their active roles in actualizing the process.
The Director further acknowledged the contributions of the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Maryam Shantali, describing her support as instrumental to the success of the relaunch
Halima Na’ala urged the departing students to remain focused and be good ambassadors of Zamfara State in their respective host schools.
She also encouraged parents across the state to embrace the opportunity and enroll their children into the exchange programme.
The Students exchange program which covers all 19 northern states, is aimed at fostering unity, cultural understanding, and academic exposure among students from diverse backgrounds.
At the flag-off, students were conveyed to unity schools in Sokoto, Jigawa, Gombe, and Adamawa States , with others set to follow as the academic calendar resumes in the respective states.
