Zamfara State’s Medical Oxygen Desk Officer, Isiaka Sabo Tsafe, has lauded Governor Dauda Lawal for the state’s possession of the only cryogenic machine in Northern Nigeria, which produces liquid oxygen (LOX).
Tsafe made the commendation on Monday while accompanying a team from the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Action on AIDS during a courtesy visit to the Zamfara State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun.
The Desk Officer informed the Commissioner that efforts are underway to facilitate UNICEF’s conversion of the machine to solar power, aiming to reduce the high consumption of diesel fuel.
He also noted that discussions are ongoing to potentially sell LOX liquid oxygen to FHI360 and the Kaduna State government.
The team, representing the Federal Ministry of Health and National Action on AIDS, paid a courtesy visit to Commissioner Maradun, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bashir Surajo.
The visit was part of an assessment of the PSA oxygen plant donated to the state by the Federal Ministry of Health, with the team specifically visiting General Hospitals in Kaura Namoda and Anka to assess the progress of work.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the state of the PSA oxygen plant and explore potential collaborations for the supply of liquid oxygen.
Following the courtesy visit, the team proceeded to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda.
