Zamfara State working committee members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists have been reelected to serve for second term under the Chairmanship of Comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare.
The election which was organized by the Credentials Committee led by Dahiru Isma’ila Mafara which was describe as well organized was conducted with all the candidates emerging as unopposed on Saturday at Zamfara NUJ State Secretariat Gusau the state capital.
Only the seat of the Council’s Vice Chairman had initially two candidates which includes Comrade Halliru Umar of NTA and Comrade Rabi Yusuf of Nigeria Radio Pride FM Gusau who announced her withdrawal from the race on Manifesto Night that made the seat to become unopposed too.
The election was peacefully conducted under the supervision of two National Officers of the NUJ that involved the participation of Zonal Vice president zone ‘A’ Comrade Mohammed Tukur Umar and his Zonal Secretary, Comrade Abdurrazak Bello Kaura who represented the National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya.
In a preselection Paper Presentations during a Symposium session themed “Role of Media in Fights Against Insurgence” by two dignitaries that comprised former Zamfara State Commissioner for Information, hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara and Abdurrazak Bello Kaura respectively which extensively stressed the importance of Media in fighting the lingering security challenges.
The reelected leaders had already been inaugurated to lead the affairs of the union for the next 3 years who were charged by the zonal Vice President zone ‘A’, Tukur Umar, to maintained the hard earned integrity of the union by ensuring total appliance of it’s Constitutional provisions while discharging their duties.
Speaking during the symposium the Emirs of Mafara and Kaura Namoda, Dr. Bello Muhammad Barmo and Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha respectively charged Journalists to always maintained the ethics of check and balanced reports to ensure peace and society-building .
Those elected are :comrade Ibrrahim Musa Maizare from Legacy Newspaper chairman.Ibrahim Ahmad Gada from NAN Secretary, Halliru M. B Umar from NTA vice chairman,Nafisa Abubakar Kanoma from zamfara Radio Treasurer,
The rest are,Surajo Muhammad from pride FM Financial secretary, Jamilu Sani Tsafe from Legacy Newspaper Assistant secretary while Ibrrahim Muhammad also from Legacy Newspaper was elected auditor
