The Executive Chairman, Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service, Hajiya Rakkiya Ahamed Dodo has reiterated determination to revive the process of accumulating revenues to the state government for execution of various developmental projects that have direct bearing to the people. She made the assertion today during the Zamfara Radio Weekly Phone-in Programme tittled” Da Ruwan Ciki akan ja na rijiya”. Hajiya Rakkiya Ahamed Dodo stressed that the significance of payment of tax to government could not be over emphasized as it assists in complementing policies and programmes implementation.
According to a press release issued by the Information Officer of the organization, Sanusi Ibrahim Sarkin Yamma, the executive Chairman had expressed concern over lack of awareness among teeming tax- payers across the state. She further said her leadership will not relent effort in evolving more ways to enlighten the tax- prayers through collaboration with relevant stakeholders such as Ministries, Departments, Boards and Agencies as well as Private Sectors for achieving desired goals. Hajiya Rakkiya Ahamed Dodo solicited mutual understanding between tax- prayers and officials of the Board for a smooth conduct of their responsibility, added that the Board has banned any negotiation among tax- prayers and staff of the Board especially on cash payment. According to her, the appropriate channel of tax-payment was through branches of commercial Banks approved by the Board operating in the state or using a new website: www.payzamfara.com. with a view to avoid fraudulent activities. She said the present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal has planned lots of progressive programmes hence the need for people in the state to render their necessary support and co-operation in that direction.
In a separate remarks Executive Director three, Secretary and Legal Adviser of the Board, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulnasir Mafara, Alhaji Shehu Dandare Gummi and Barrister Mubarak Ibrahim respectively explained that the Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service was committed towards complementing the effort of the state government through their revenue generation. During the programme callers from within and outside the state contributed with suggestions, questions and commendations.
