Zamfara state government has made plan to construct modern abattoirs at Talata mafara, Kaura Namoda and Gummi local government areas.
It also planned to construct veterinary clinics in twelve local government areas in the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Ya u Haruna Gamji disclosed this during a joint meeting with the state executive members of livestock traders association and other relevant stakeholders at the conference hall of the ministry of agriculture.
A press release issued by the information officer of the ministry, Bashir Abashiya indicated that the Commissioner disclosed that a new cattle market in Gusau, and loading rumps at Kasuwa r Daji, Shinkafi, Talata Mafara, and Gusau will equally be constructed. These, he said, was in line with the state government’s desire to open of a new chapter in repositioning agricultural sector in the state through employment generation and providing food sufficiency.
Earlier speaking, the Permanent secretary of the ministry, Alh Garba Aliyu Gayari stated that ,the essence of the meeting was to rub minds and exchange ideas on how best the parties could synergise and work harmoniously to achieve their common objectives. He opined that, the ministry of agriculture is desirous and welcoming suggestions and collaborations from all and sundry to improve the cultivation of crops and rearing of animals across the state.
He therefore charged the leadership of the association to ensure the formalisation and coordination of their activities through an upcoming Union and membership registrations with the state Ministry of Agriculture to enable the associations benefit from interventions and programs both from the State and Federal Governments,
The leadership of the association thanked the Ministry of Agriculture for the opportunities and pledges their full support and cooperation.
