Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has officially flagged off the contract notification award ceremony for local contractors involved in the UBEC/SUBEB 2024 Matching Grant Projects, representing a substantial investment of over five billion Naira.
The governor stated that the aims of the projects is to revitalizing the state’s educational infrastructures.
This ceremony, held at the Government House in Gusau, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of basic education for all children in the state.
Governor Lawal emphasized the significance of education as a cornerstone for societal growth and development.
Gov Lawal also highlighted the various initiatives under the 2024 Matching Grant Projects, including the construction of new mega schools, renovation of existing facilities, and implementation of enhanced security measures to create safe learning environments.
“Quality education begins with quality infrastructures and by reinforcing the government’s dedication to equipping students with the necessary resources for academic success”. Gov Lawal stated
The governor noted that health and sanitation in schools are paramount, announcing plans to install proper Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities.
“By promoting health and hygiene in our schools, we are investing not just in education but also in the well-being of our children,” he also remarked.

In an address of welcome, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki, expressed his confidence to the contractors selected for the projects.
He urged them to uphold high standards of professionalism and accountability, emphasizing that their role is vital in executing projects that symbolize hope for the future of Zamfara’s children.
He reiterated the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of these educational initiatives.
