Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun has approved the creation of Women Affairs Department in all the 14 local government councils of the state.
This was contained in a press release issued by the Information Officer in the state Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Suleiman Isah and made available to newsmen in Gusau.
According to the press release, the creation of Women Affairs Departments will bring women closer to the government.
The press release stated that the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry for Women and Children Affairs, Hajia (Dr) Barira Ibrahim Bagobiri said the proposed Women Departments will be headed by indigenous women after their creation.
It further stated that the creation of Womens’ Department in Local Government areas shows Governor Matawalle’s concern for women development in the state.
Dr. Barira therefore advised women in the state to thank God for the gesture and support Governor Matawalle in his efforts to be reelected for second term in office.
Dr. Barira similarly thanked Governor Matawalle and the First Lady, Hajia Aisha Bello Matawalle for their continued support and encouragement to women in the state.
