Speaking during the event at Jaiz Hotel in Gusau, the State project coordinator Nasiru Mohammed disclosed that, the aim of the training is to identify target beneficiaries, sensitise stakeholders on the need for the profiling and seek support and cooperation from the leadership of value chain clusters in carrying out the exercise. He further stated that, the exercise is aimed at explaining the requirements needed for the profiling as well as familiarising the Area veterinary officers and other stakeholders on the journey so far about the project implementation in the state.
The project coordinator who gave an overview highlighted that, the L.pres project is aimed at improving livestock productivity and resilience of the industry, boasting the commercialization of livestock as well as strengthening the state capacity to respond to crises of emergencies in the livestock industry.
Mallam Nasiru Mohammed further highlighted that, the Zamfara State through the Ministry of Agriculture had fulfilled it’s obligations to reap from the multiple benefits of the project. He therefore commended the State Executive Governor, DR Dauda lawal and the Commissioner for Agriculture Ya u Haruna Gamji for their supports and ensuring that Zamfara is among the participating States for the project implementation in the country.
The coordinator assured the stakeholders, of the project provisions to improve livestock value chain production, that suffered from the longtime of cattle rustling and banditry.
The L.pres is a six year project finance by the World Bank and the Federal Ministry for Agriculture and Food Security, with a vision to cultivate a livestock industry in Nigeria with a value addition and quality services, there by fostering a sustainable, diversified and productive livestock economy.
