The coalition of Zamfara state civil society and the well wishers to the progress of Federal College Of Education Technical Gusau (FCET) has today staged a protest over what they called anti progress of education by the College Of Education Academic Staff Union COEASU Chapter of the College.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Alhaji Nasiru Garba, has said that they have gathered at the gate of the college to show their solidarity to Hajiya Hauwa’u Mukhtar Abdul Karim, being the substantive and only Female and indigenous provost since the creation of the FCET Gusau in 1988.
According to him some members of the embattled union are not wishing well to the college, as a result they reached to the extent of inviting their co-union members from over eight states of the federation to assist them in the fight against what God has done.
He said, “Some Academic Staff of the college do not want the college to be manned by a substantive provost, they always want to lead the institution in acting capacity as caretakers, which is very bad, adding that by doing so, the school will never progress”.
He however called on federal government under minister of education to hasten the immediate transfer of the so called COEASU members to other federal colleges of education so as to allow the provost to continue with the good job she has started.
Alhaji Nasiru however called on Zamfara., Sokoto, and Kebbi state government, their senators, and all the House of Representative members to come to the aid of their children as according to him today marked three months without lecturers in the college due to their grievances.
