Wife of the Zamfara State governor Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal has commended Nigeria’s First Lady Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu for her giant strides in addressing social issues through the empowerment of women and the promotion of gender-friendly policies.
The Governor’s Wife Huriyya Dauda made the commendation during the flagged-off ceremony of the Renewed Hope Initiative on Agriculture Support Programme for the North West zone.
In a statement by the Zamfara State governor’s wife, Senior Special Assistant On Media And Communication Office Of The First Lady Zamfara State,Zaharau Musa
said, the First Lady issued a cheque of ten million Naira to twenty Women Farmers beneficiaries from Zamfara State as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative to support women in agriculture.
Presenting the cheque to the North West Governor’s wives, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Hajiya Fatima Tajudeen Abbas who represented the President’s Wife said the Renewed Hope Initiative will support One hundred and forty (140)Women in Agriculture with the sum of five hundred thousand Naira each and 100 persons living with special needs are to be supported with one hundred thousand Naira each.
She said, the Renewed Hope Initiative will be collaborating, with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, to empower potential farmers, where 75% of the beneficiaries will be young female farmers while 25% will be Young male farmers.
The wife of the Kebbi state Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasiru Idris, also supported the initiative, by donating Solar water pumping machines, to the 140 beneficiaries, and assorted food items, to each person with Special Needs.
In a Goodwill message, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal thanked the president’s wife for the initiative which she said would impact positively the lives of female farmers, and help to shape the government’s policies and programs towards achieving gender equality and empower women across states of the Federation.
