The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness demonstrated by Kaduna State on the December 2025 Polio Immunization Exercise, which is ongoing across all the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
The commendation was given by the WHO State Coordinator, Dr. Abede Mohammed, after he witnessed a road show performance organized by the Journalist Initiative on Immunization Against Polio (JAP) in Kawo Community of Kaduna North Local Government Area.
He stated that all critical requirements for the immunization exercise, including logistics, vaccines, and trained personnel, had been adequately put in place before the commencement of the exercise.
Dr. Mohammed noted that the road show was a strategic advocacy effort aimed at mobilizing communities and creating awareness on the importance of polio vaccination, describing the initiative as timely and impactful in supporting the immunization campaign.
According to him, real-time data from the WHO dashboard showed that the polio immunization exercise was progressing smoothly across the state, with impressive coverage and compliance from communities.
While commending the efforts of the Kaduna State Government and health workers at all levels, Dr. Mohammed also praised JAP for its role in supporting public enlightenment and community engagement through the road show.
However, the WHO State Coordinator urged all Local Government Areas in the state to ensure the timely release of their counterpart funding, stressing that adequate financing was crucial for effective supervision, monitoring, and the overall success of the immunization exercise.
Also speaking, District Head of Kawo Alhaji Jibrin Mohammed Magaji urged all parents to avail their children for the polio vaccination in view of it’s importance to well-being and health of the children.
The District Head who Spoke through the village Head Alhaji Dahiru Yahaya commended WHO, the State Government and other supporting partners for taken issues of health with all the seriousness it deserves
