The state office of United Nations Children Educational Funf (UNICEF) has advised Zamfara state Zakkat and Endowment Board to modernize its operational mode to enable it access aid from foreign donours.
Zamfara state representative of UNICEF, Isa Ibrahim Maru gave the advice at a one-day seminar organized by the fund in Gusau. He emphasized that global humanitarian agencies and charity organizations collaborate with public and private institutions with modern methods of implementing their policies and programmes.
The UNICEF representative explained that the purpose of the seminar was to sensitize and enlighten the board’s staff on the methods of enhancing their partnership strategies with non governmental organisations to derive maximum benefits. He added that UNICEF was willing and ready to to give orphans and less privileged children special support in the state.
Earlier in his speech at the occasion, the chairman of Zamfara state Zakkat and Endowment Board, ,Sheikh Ahmad Ibn Umar Kanoma assured that the board was ready to callabrate with the donor organisations to secure continuous assistance for orphans and less privileged persons in the state.
Sheikh Kanoma stressed at all levels and circumstances, rules and regulations governing the board must be upheld and respected and that any thing against them must be avoided.
He therefore the thanked organizers for organising the workshop in order to update and refresh memories.
In his remarks at the occasion, the Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Habibu Balarabe noted that the zakkat and Endowment board and UNICEF Nigeria share unified vision and objective to assist children especially orphans and less privileged.
The Executive Secretary also described the seminar as helpful and important to “our staff and remind us to know our responsibility in the board.”
He then called on the staff to use the lessons learned during the workshop and improve their duties accordingly.
Executive Secretary emphasized the board’s commitment to work with any non governmental organisation for development of the state.
