The Zamfara State Police command has arrested fourty suspected hoodlums who took advantage of the announced governorship result last Tuesday and embarked on Jubilation that turned violent and led to the distruction and looting of government facilities, APC Party offices and personal houses mostly owned by politicians.
The command’s public relations officer, SP Mohammed Shehu has in a press release said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf who led joint police and other security agencies brought the situation under control.
The release indicated that you twenty six (26) suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and that Area Commanders and DPOs also embarked on similar exercise in their respective areas to avert escalation.
The press release further indicated that ongoing investigation by the Police detectives led to the arrest of another fourteen suspects and recovery of looted and vandalised properties.
The Commissioner of Police while appealing for calm, reassured deligent investigation with a view to arresting fleeing suspects and their collaborators for prosecution as well as recover the looted properties, the press release concluded.
