The NUJ Information Chapel has distributed cash assistance to its members as part of a Ramadan welfare package aimed at supporting them during the holy month.
Speaking shortly after beneficiaries received payment alerts, the Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Abubakar Aliyu, said the initiative was designed to ease the financial burden on members and further strengthen unity within the union.
He explained that the welfare package reflects the chapel’s continued commitment to the well-being of its members, particularly during the Ramadan period.
According to him, only members who have consistently demonstrated commitment by attending meetings and actively participating in chapel activities benefited from the gesture.
“We always give consideration to members who are ever ready to answer calls and contribute meaningfully to the activities of the chapel.
That is our standard,” he said.
Comrade Aliyu further assured members that the union’s support initiatives would be sustained beyond the Ramadan period as part of its broader welfare strategy.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the leadership of the chapel, describing the intervention as timely and impactful. They also encouraged other members who are not actively involved in chapel affairs to participate more fully in its activities.
