From Abdullahi Adamu Gusau
The Chief Imam of Al-ansar mosque,Tudun Wada, Gusau, Dr. Awwal Khamis has warmed Islamic communities against neglecting cemeteries to avoid Divine punishment
The Imam gave the warning in a sermon at a congregational prayer in the mosque. He emphasized that proper maintenance of cemeteries should not be government’s responsibility alone, but should rather be a collective one.
Dr. Awwal Khamis stressed that Islam enjoins Muslims to dignify and respect the needs of both living deceased members of the community. He maintained that neglecting cemeteries amounts disobeying religious obligation of disrespecting those in the graveyards.
Imam Awwal Khamis therefore enjoined Muslim Communities to consider the repercussions of disobeying God that further complicate prevailing socio-economic problems. He reminded them on the importance and urgent need for collaborative effort to solve problems with the aim of attaining salvation.
