Ministry of Agriculture has solicited for the support and cooperation from the Maru Emirate council for the successful implementation of the Special Agro Industrial Processing Zone project in the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alh Garba Aliyu Gayari made the request during a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness the Emir of Maru Alh Abubakar chika Maigari at his palace in Maru town.
Alh Garba Gayari disclosed that, he was at the palace as part of the sensitization and mobilization campaign to the Emir and his subjects in preparation for the Saipz project implementation in the state, and further notify him that, Maru town was designated to host one among the three Agricultural Transformation centers in addition to Agricultural industrial complex that will be established in Gusau under the project.
The Permanent Secretary further explained that, the choice of Maru is connected to it’s abundant Natural and Human resources, he then seek for collaborative efforts from the People in the area to reciprocate the kind gesture.
Speaking earlier, the General Manager Fasco Alh Ibrahim Hassan Magazu informed the Emir that, Zamfara state has been known for Agricultural production, processing and marketing, when the project commences it will develop value chain, and boast local and international trade in addition to gainful employment opportunities to the people in the area according to him.
The delegation later mobilized and sensitized farmers in the area about the multiple advantages drivable in the SAIPz project.
The project is jointly finance by the Africa Development Bank, Federal and State Governments aim to develop value chain and promote value addition and boast local and international trade in food.
zamfara state has qualified to participate into the phase two of the project implementations through the gigantic efforts from the State Government.
