The Director General Katsina State Transport Authority, Malam Haruna Musa, has revealed that the state transport organisation as quantified by 2024 is saving the commuters trip’s cost for minimum of Two Hundred millions Naira in every month as subsidy nationwide.
Comrade Haruna Musa revealed that while interecting with members of press men’s at Nigeria union of journalist, Kaduna state council secretariat in Kaduna.
According to the director general, when appointed in Octorber 2018 by governor Aminu Masari, I inherited One Hundred and Six vehicles only Thirty five vehicles actively services, including the Two months outstanding salaries owned by our workers.
He however reveals that, I inherited the loan of over Fifty millions Naira, within shot of period of time, with the effort and commitment by the present governor Dikko Umar Radda, I’m be able to settles all the debts and challenges facing the organisation.
“The transport authority’s success began with a decisive intervention by Governor Radda following the removal of the federal fuel subsidy. Recognizing that the income of the populace had not increased while transport fares would naturally multiply.
, the Governor have injected 40 new buses into the fleet.state transport organisation, with determination of purchasing of additional busses from generated revenue at every month by the transport authority.
“Consequently 300 buses now operating with private partnership companies operates in two differences categories, one category operated within the state, other operated outside the state even within our neighboring countries.”
He further noted that, in cases of fatal accident the organisation have succeeded by introduction of Road Accident Assistance Scheme (RAAS) in collaboration with consultant for immediate response and first aid of an accident before the victims relatives take over.
