HON. ZANNAN BUNGUDU SPONSORS FEDERAL UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL GUSAU ESTABLISHMENT BILL
A Bill for an Act to establish Federal University Teaching Hospital Gusau sponsored by Member House of Reps Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency Hon. Dr. Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu yesterday scaled second reading.
It would be recalled that Hon. Zannan Bungudu had on Thursday 20th February 2025 initiated and read the Bill (First reading) before the hallowed chamber.
Leading the debate, Hon. Dr. Zannan Bungudu explained that the bill if passed into law would guarantee investment into healthcare as it is about providing medical students with the best possible training while at the same time accord citizens with access to higher quality medical care.
He specifically informed the House that the Federal University Gusau has commenced its Bachelor
of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme and this programme cannot succeed without a Teaching Hospital.
This step would go along way in addressing the critical
shortage of medical professionals in our country, particularly in underserved regions like
Zamfara.
Responding, the Speaker House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas directed the Clerk of the House to give the Bill a second reading.
The Bill was later referred to the House Committee on University Education.
