The education sector in Zamfara State has witnessed remarkable progress under the leadership of Honourable Commissioner for Education, Wadatau Madawaki who, with the commitment and support of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal is redefining the narrative of public education in the state.
One of the most significant achievements under Hon. Madawaki’s stewardship is the full settlement of outstanding debts owed to National examination bodies notably WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS .These debts, which had lingered for years, resulted in the withholding of students’ results and widespread frustration among parents, school administrators, and the general public.
However, with political will, transparency, and a commitment to accountability, Hon. Madawaki worked closely with Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to clear these financial liabilities ensuring that thousands of Zamfara students can now access their results and pursue further education without obstacles.
Beyond debt settlement, the Commissioner has been instrumental in laying the groundwork for reviving the education sector His reforms focus on:
- Infrastructure development in schools across urban and rural areas.
- Quality assurance and capacity building to improve teaching quality.
- Monitoring and supervision mechanisms to ensure accountability and performance.
- Encouraging girl-child education and reducing dropout rates through community engagement and incentives.
The Ministry of Education, under Hon. Madawaki’s guidance, is also working towards digitization of school records improved data management, and stronger collaboration with federal agencies and development partners to access grants and technical assistance.
All these efforts align with the vision of Governor Dauda Lawal to rescue Zamfara State from years of neglect and mismanagement.
Education, being a foundation for development, has been given top priority by the present administration, and Hon. Madawaki has proven to be a dependable driver of that vision.
Within two years, Zamfara State is already experiencing a new dawn in education one that promises better learning outcomes, empowered youth, and a brighter future for the state.
