A group of gunmen attacked the Mareri area in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara state last Saturday night where they abducted nine ladies in the same house including one of their neighbour.
According to reports, the bandits stormed the area at around 12:00 am on the fateful day carrying dangerous weapons were they began shooting sporadically on air before they managed to kidnapped the ladies .
In the same vain, our correspondent gathered that the victims are natives of Anka town, the headquarters of Anka local government in Zamfara state.
The victims include, Sanaratu Marafa, Halimatu Marafa, Rukayya Marafa, Sakina Yusuf Anka, Amina Yusuf Anka, Habsat Yusuf Anka, Fatima Sani Anka, Suwaiba Mareri, Aslam Jariri and one of their neighbours.
The people of the Mareri area have been facing security problems for a long time, forcing most of the residents of the area to leave their homes for their safety.
Some residents of the area in an interview with our correspondent expressed their grief over the way the area is facing the challenges of bandits attacks, calling on the security agencies and the state government to take appropriate measures to improve the security in order to protect their lives and properties .
“A resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that the area in the capital city of Zamfara State is in a serious devastating moment as a result of rampant attacks almost on daily basis by the bandits .
“We face the challenge of armed attacks almost all the time, but there are no security operatives in the area to protect our lives,” he said.
He called on the federal government and Zamfara state government to bring security personnel in our area for our safety.
“Everyone knows that the situation is very difficult We cannot leave our houses and rent another houses, therefore, we are calling on the federal and Zamfara State governments to take urgent measures to protect our lives.” He said
