In its bid to conduct free, fair and peaceful gubernatorial and state assembly elections in the state, Zamfara state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has conducted a stakeholders meeting to review and fine-tune arrangements.
The meeting was held at the commission’s headquarters in Gusau and led by the national electoral commissioner in charge of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara, Professor Muhammad Sani Kalla.
In his remarks at the occasion, Professor Sani Kalla emphasized the importance of all stakeholders to put in their best towards achieving appreciable success of the forth coming gubernatorial and state assembly elections in the state. He stressed that INEC had noted the problems encountered during the concluded presidential election and national assembly elections and was poised to overcome them
Heads of security agencies in the state who graced the occasion had emphasized the need for stakeholders and eligible voters to strictly abide by stipulated electoral laws and procedures to ensure hitch free polls. They warned that violators of law will be prosecuted.
The meeting was attended by politicians, civil society organizations, community and religious representatives and mass media organizations in the state. Various comments, observations and advices were offered by the invited guests during the interactive session of the meeting.
