Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rescind its decision to boycott the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for September 21.
Speaking at the flag-off of the APC campaign in Goronyo, Governor Aliyu assured the opposition that the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) will conduct free, fair, and credible polls.
He noted that the SIEC leadership was appointed by the previous PDP administration and has not been tampered with.
“I had a meeting with the Chairman of SIEC, and he assured me of transparent polls. Whoever wins will be declared the winner,” Governor Aliyu said.
He urged the people of the state to come out and vote for APC candidates, highlighting the administration’s achievements in various sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, and workers’ welfare.
The Governor listed some of the administration’s achievements, including the provision of free fertilizer and pesticides to farmers, installation of solar-powered street lights, and construction of road projects. He also noted that workers in the state receive their salaries from the 19th to 20th of every month.
