The Special Adviser on political matters to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state, Yahaya Abubakar Yari has denied report carried by some newspapers that an official of PDP has been arrested for gun running and banditry in Zamfara.
The Special Adviser made the denial while speaking to journalists in his office in response to alleged arrest of PDP official in gunrunning and banditry in Zamfara state.
He said the alleged member of the PDP is not a card carrying member of the party hence he was unknown to the party since he is not a registered member. Hon.Yahaya further said no genuine party member can involve himself in such unholy act.
He said PDP in Zamfara was elected to fight banditry and other sundry crimes. How can its registered member be involved or engage in such activities that are against the philosophy of the party, he queried.
He said the security agencies are yet to inform them of any arrest of PDP official in Zamfara state.He said the alleged crime linked to PDP member is the handwork of the opposition parties in the state.
Hon.Yahaya commended the security agencies in the state for collaborating with the government to rid the state of bad elements in the society. He said the government of Governor Dauda Lawal was highly committed to fight banditry as part of its rescue mission agenda and that it will not tolerate blackmail from the opposition parties.
Recently there was a report from various media houses that the military had captured and paraded a PDP official from Shinkafi local government area of the state alleged to be involved in gun running.
He further appealed to people of the state to maximally support the government of Dauda Lawal to achieve it agenda of rescue mission and to further support the security agencies in the state in their efforts to curtail the menace of bandits.
