Zamfara state governor, Dauda Lawal has given reasons for his frequent trips outside the state.
Speaking in an interview with Farin Wata TV station, the governor explained that he had to source financial and material resources to rescue the state out of its security and economic predicaments. He asserted that the trips had enabled the state government regained the lost confidence reposed in it by foreign and local collaborative partners who withdrawn the aid given to the state due to high level fraud and embezzlement by public officials entrusted with the funds.
Governor Dauda Lawal said that with the restored confidence in the state government, “we will very soon start renovating and developing significant number of educational and health institutions across the state.” He added that medical equipments and medicaments were donated to the state government by the foreign agencies to resuscitate the collapsed healthcare sector.
Speaking on the insecurity problems facing the state, Governor Dauda stressed that the Community Protection Guards recruited by the state government were being trained by security agencies to effectively conduct their assignment. He stressed that they will adequately be armed and provided with necessary logistics to facilitate their operation.
The executive governor who lamented the monumental level of public corruption in the state pledged to appropriately minimise the problem by exposing the perpetrators. He emphasized that measures will be taken by the state government to retrieve the embezzled public funds and juciously punish the wrongdoers as a punitive measure. He seriously warmed public officials to desist from all forms of corrupt practices or be removed from office.
