In a bid to promote cleaner and more affordable energy solutions, the Federal Government in collaboration with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has launched the highly anticipated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative in Kaduna on Thursday the 18/07/2024 .
This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide a cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective alternative to traditional fuels for the transportation sector.

Speaking on the project, the chairman Board of Trustees (BOT) of the NURTW, Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin ,Makaman Gusau said the CNG initiative is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and enhance the overall transportation experience for millions of Nigerians. Additionally, this project will create new job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.
He announced that the Federal Government and NURTW have been working tirelessly to ensure the successful implementation of the project. The launch event featured dignitaries from the government, transportation sector, and other stakeholders, who gather to witness the milestone moment.

He emphasized that with the CNG initiative, Nigeria is poised to join the ranks of countries leading the charge in sustainable energy solutions.
The Lagos chapter launching is scheduled for Saturday the 20/07/2024 as stakeholders from the transport sector and other important dignitaries are expected to grace the all important occasion.
