The Upper sharia Court II Gusau has granted bail to a former Minister of State for Information and now PDP Senatorial Candidate for Zamfara Central, Ikra Aliyu Bilbis.
Bilbis was arrested by Security Operatives on Tuesday 29th November, 2022 by in connection with allegedly vandalisation of Campaign billboards, posters and other valuables belonging to the APC during a Political rally recently held by the PDP in the State.
He was earlier arraigned before Zamfara State Magistrate Court I Gusau on two count charge bordering on criminal Conspiracy and Mischief resulting to disturbance of public peace and wanton destruction of property.
The Magistrate Court however transferred the case to the Upper Sharia Court II Gusau for lack of jurisdiction.
The Upper Sharia Court eventually granted bail to the former Minister based on sections 300 and 301 of the Zamfara State Penal code as he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Presiding Judge, Jibril Ibrahim however stipulates that the suspect must Present two sureties one of whom must be a permanent secretary in the state civil service while the second one should possess a property in Gusau whose value must not be less than twenty million Naira.
The case was adjourned to 14th December, 2022 for hearing.
