The National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, has commended President Bola Tinubu for initiative on provision of Compressed Natural Gas , CNG, vehicles.
A communique issued at the end of its emergency National Executive Council, NEC, meeting noted that constituiting a presidential implementation committee on CNG vehicles will alleviate mass transportation problems in the country. The communique signed by the National President of the union, Alhaji (Dr) Musiliu A. Akinsanya and the Secretary, Comrade Kayode S. A. Agbeyangi also commended security agencies and well-meaning Nigerians for their support, understanding and commitment during the trying period of the union.
The trade union similarly commended the National Administrative Council under the erstwhile acting president, Alhaji Aliyu Issa Ore and the National Executive Council members for ensuring peace and industrial harmony across all organs of the union. The NEC therefore approved the swearing in and inauguration of the union ‘s president, vice president and national trustees.

The NEC, according to the communique, accepted In good faith the decision of the Appeal Court but discussed with dismay the legacy of Alhaji Ibikunle Baruwa’s tenure as president which dragged the union backward due to lack of accountability, non payment of salaries and allowances, non payment of NLC affiliate dues and suspension of union’s activities in many states.
The NEC in session had, for these reasons, unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on Alhaji Ibikunle Tajuddeen Baruwa and therefore moved and seconded a motion for his indefinite suspension from the union.
