GWANDU ROYAL FATHER SOUGHT FOR SUPPORT TO NPC AND INEC .
The Emir of Gwandu Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, has craved for the indulgence of Kebbi Stat People to maximally support the statutory functions of the National Population Commission (NPC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the country.
He said the conduct of the National Census was an integral policy implementation procedure, just as the citizens occupied the key roles to that effect, and were duty-bound to ensure the execution of a hitch-free nationwide polls next year.
The Custodian of the Westem Caliphate, made the plea shortly after the Turbaning of four district heads and Six Title Holders held at the Abdullahi Fodio Palace Birnin Kebbi in high pageantry.
As the Commissions were separately working round the clock to actualize their mandates, Nigerians must cooperate and render their total support to the successful conduct of the Headcounts and the National Elections come 2023, the Emir remarked.
He used the occasion to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for his concern to Traditional rulers and Sen. Atiku Bagudu who approved the appointments of the district heads as forwarded by the Gwandu Emirate Council, GEC.
The Chairman of the State Council of Chiefs than, charged the District heads to exercise caution in their administrative strategies and exhibit the fear of the Supreme Being at all times.
He also implored on them to work in harmony with the strata of people within their jurisdictive districts with a view to recognize and use their individual wisdoms for the betterment of all and Sundry.
The Royal father also empathized on the maintenance of law and order as their rulership demanded coupled with unflinching support to constituted authorities in Kebbi State and the Nation at large.
The new districts were Alhaji Haruna Iliyasu Bashar as Magajin Raha, Alhaji Musa Usman Bashar Marafan Makera, while Alhaji Mustapha Usman and Dr. Abubakar Garba were respectively Turbaned as Sarkin Bargu Ka’oje and Sarkin Sudan Koko, the district head of Lani in Bagudo and Koko/Besse Local Governments.
The Emirate Council also conferred Traditional titles on Sheikh Umar Malisa as Sarkin Malaman Gwandu, Alhaji Haliru Haruna Rashid as Cikasoron Gwandu and Hon. Alhaji Bello Ka’oje as Kogunan Gwandu. Others were Chief Emeka Okafor as Eze Igbo II of Gwandu Emirate, Barr. Rilwanu Umar and Alhaji Faruku Kuru as Kachallan Gwandu and Gatan Gwandu respectively.
Emir Iliyasu said they were bestowed with the titles by the council to reflect their meritorious services to their respective communities, the State and Local Governments.
He warned against the miss-use of the positions as the Emirate Council will monitor and invite any one of them to chip-in any matter that demanded the perusals of the Emirate Council for the betterment of the citizenry.
In a brief speech, the Bunza Local Governemnt Chairman Alhaji Umaru Ahmad Gwade enjoined the people in Raha District to raise up their followership and accord the new Magajin Raha greater support and cooperation at all time.
The Local Government boss further called on the new Magajin Raha at the reception held for the latter to lead an open administration by making himself assessable to all strata of people he now administer in the Area.
By so doing Alhaji Ahmad Gwade said the new Magaji would epitomize the legacies as laid by his forbearers and descendants of Shiekh Abdullahi Bin Fodiyo across the ancient Raha District Area in Bunza Local Government Council.
He pledged to assist Magaji Haruna Iliyasu in the discharge of his new assignment so as to smooth some teething administrative hic-cups being the first citizen of Raha district.
Other speakers were Alhaji Ibrahim Bashar KKB, Galadiman Gwandu, who reminded the new district head to mobilise the people to undertake communal projects to complement government efforts for the improvement their general welfare.
The Galadiman Gwandu who stood for Emir Iliyasu Bashar traced the Turankawa rulership of Raha district area to pre-colonial era down to the present day that usher in another glory with the Turbaning of Alhaji Haruna Iliyasu Bashar another descendant of Shiekh Abdullahi Bin Fodio.
He admonished the new Magajin Raha to stand for truth, strive to strengthen unity in the district and eradicate cases of Fulani/Farmers skirmishes which often led to loss of lives and properties as well as report outbreak of diseases to the concerned authorities.
The Royal father also pleaded to the every householder to checkmate cases of fire out breaks which occurred as a result of fire left in the forges by women after the preparations of meals in their houses.
The reception was blessed by the state Commissioner of Works and Transport Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan (Barden Gwandu) who doubles as the chairman of the publicity committee, former and present members of State and National Assemblies and some Traditional Rulers from other Local Governments in Kebbi State.
The Commissioner seized the opportunity to thank all members of the publicity committee who worked assiduously to the successful conduct of the Turbaning Ceremony and prayed for the participants journey’s Mercies.
