The emergence of Alhaji (Dr.) Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) as the president of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) followed due constitutional provision of the union. The organs of the union in the South-West geopolitical zone of the country who were saddled to produce the President and other two National Officers as enshrined in the Union’s Constitution held their delegates conference at the Zonal Council office Osogbo, Osun State and elected Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) as President, Alh. Tajudeen Badru Agbede – Vice President and Alh. Akeem Adeosun (Jango) as Trustee to represent Zone 2 (South-West) at the national level.All due processes for their election was adhered to, the zone later convey the report of the Zonal Delegate’s Conference to the national body; the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union for rectification and it was considered and approved for inauguration. They were subsequently inaugurated at National Executive Council (NEC)/Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held at the National Secretariat of NURTW. The thirty (36) States including FCT/Zonal Councils were in attendance.

These prelude is to put the records straight for the teaming members and the general public across the country to note that the union been law abiding would not like to join issues with the former president Alh. Ibikunle Tajudeen Baruwa who has since been sacked due to his maladministration, that informed the CWC/NEC to pass a vote of no confidence on him and moved a motion for his indefinite suspension from the union.The former president Alh. Ibikunle Tajudeen Baruwa’s maladministration during his four (4) years reign in office dragged the union backward due to lack of accountability, non-payment of salaries and allowances, embezzlement of cooperative funds couple with non-payment of NLC and ITF affiliate dues. His high handedness caused the suspension of union activities in various state councils couple with anti-union activities.The President Alh. (Dr.) Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) who was recently inaugurated during the CWC/NEC meeting in Abuja was not a party to any litigation in any court of law. He is a bona-fide member of the union, who is a grass root unionist Treasurer/Chairman Lagos State Council and south-west zonal chairman to mention among others.Alh. (Dr.) Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) promised to pilot the affairs of the union to a greater height and called on members across the country to give him maximum cooperation in order to succeed. Saying that NURTW National Union of Road Transport Workers as a union was greater than any individual.
