Following the recent unbundling of mass communication studies by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the management of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara has introduced three programmes at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level.
A press release issued by Aliyu Damri,head of the institution’s mass communication department tevealed that
This was made known in a statement received by the Polytechnic’s Rector, Professor Sha’ayau Shehu, Magajin Rafin Mafara, duly signed by the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje.
The statement indicated that mass communication was unbundled into three programmes including HND in Journalism and Media Production, encompassing print, broadcast, and digital journalism; HND in Strategic Communication and Media Studies, encompassing public relations, advertising, and development communication; and HND in Film and Multimedia Production.
The ND programme remained the national diploma in mass communication as it has been.
Asked which session the programmes start, the Rector, Professor Sha’ayau Shehu, Magajin Rafin Mafara, responded that the programmes commence next session of 2022/2023 academic session.
It could be recalled that, the department of mass communication, Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara Zamfara State offers accredited HND in mass communication.
