The Zamfara state football team has emerged second for the just concluded unity football tournament organised by the Arewa consultative forum, as parts of it’s silver jubilee celebration.
Kebbi won the cup after beaten Zamfara state A A Yari team by five goals to four in penality, after both teams scored two goals to each in the Ninety minutes of the game played, held at Ranches Bees stadium in Kaduna.
Speaking, the Chairman ACF on football development, tournament Dr Abubakar Saddiq Fakai, said “the essence of the competition is to promote unity amongst the Nineteenth northern state including Abuja especially the youths.
“Its the first batch happened under the ACF umbrella, it also successful after some certained challenges overcame.” It use in identified and promoting a young football talents in the region.
Honourable Fakai also noted that, the unity cup tournament had setup to commemorate the the 25 ACF anniversary, the nineteenth northern states have participated including FCT, its however segmental in four zones.
He however, commended the entire leadership of ACF headed by Wazirin Dutsi, the members of organising committee, the Young’s footballs talents came from the different parts in the north.
The manager of Zamfara football team Alhaji Abdullahi Dan Azumi, has appeals to Zamfara state government and others stakeholders to invest in football industries for development of youths in football.
He arguing that, the youths engagement in sports activities it would discouraged them to participate in immoral Acts; politics thuggery and drugs abuse.
Sansanin Gusau however, calls on the organises of the tournament to embrace fairness and avoid being biased for the successful conduct of any competition.
The others that’s secured awards at the tournament were; Abu Ali of Plateau state team’s won the best player tournament, while Zayyanu Halidu of Kebbi state emerged the best goalkeeper of the competition.
High goalscorer goes to Mohammed Al amin of Bauchi state, and the best team respectively.
