The Deputy Governor of Zamfara State and Chairman, Zamfara State Ease of Doing Business Council, His Excellency, Mani Malam Mummuni Masamar Mudi (Matawallen Bukkuyum), has reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal to strengthening the business environment, promoting investments and supporting entrepreneurship across the state.
Speaking at the Nationwide Town Hall Meeting and Stakeholders’ Engagement Tour on the implementation of the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme held today Tuesday, 23rd June, 2026, at Dr. Garba Nadama Hall, J.B. Yakubu Secretariat, Gusau.
the Deputy Governor stated that, the Zamfara State Government has embarked on strategic reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business and attracting private sector investments.
He also explained that, the SABER Programme covers critical areas including land administration, regulatory reforms, private sector investment in fibre optic infrastructure, public-private partnerships, investment promotion, tax administration and business regulatory environment.
According to him, the present administration has strengthened key institutions responsible for business facilitation, including the Zamfara Geographic Information System (ZAGIS), Zamfara Urban and Regional Planning Board, Zamfara Investment Promotion Agency, Zamfara Internal Revenue Service, Zamfara State Water Corporation and the Vehicle Inspection Unit.
The Deputy Governor disclosed that, the state government has prudently utilized resources accessed through the World Bank-supported SABER Programme to execute projects that directly impact businesses and economic growth across the state.
He further announced that, the state government would continue supporting businesses through grants and empowerment programmes. He revealed that under the initiative, government had provided support to 2,000 micro businesses with grants of ₦150,000 each, 1,000 small businesses with ₦500,000 each, while 60 large businesses received ₦5 million each. He also disclosed that government facilitated the acquisition of export licenses for 20 resident exporters.
He urged all beneficiaries of government grants and interventions to utilize the resources responsibly in order to expand their businesses, create jobs and contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.
The Deputy Governor welcomed members of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) team and other stakeholders to the town hall meeting and encouraged them to assess ongoing projects across the state to appreciate the impact of government interventions.
He reiterated the commitment of the Governor Dauda Lawal administration to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and ensuring sustainable economic development across the state.
